BOONEVILLE–The Div. 1-1A and Div. 1-3A Tournaments conclude tonight in Booneville, while Div. 2-2A wraps up at Walnut. All participants in tonight’s game will advance to next week’s North Half.
The Falkner Lady Eagles and Pine Grove Lady Panthers meet for a fourth time at 7 p.m. for the Div. 1-1A girls championship at Booneville High School. Thursday, Falkner advanced with a 57-41 win over Thrasher. Pine Grove rolled Biggersville 71-45.
Following their tilt, the Blue Mountain Cougars will face Biggersville for the third time, but this time for the Div. 1-1A boys title. Blue Mountain fought off Falkner 63-55, Thursday to advance, while Biggersville defeated Wheeler 84-67. Biggersville won two previous games against Blue Mountain by a combined seven points.
The Falkner Eagles will play for a No. 3 seed, when they face Wheeler at 5:30 p.m.
The Ripley Lady Tigers will attempt to win their third straight Div. 1-3A girls title, as they face their nemesis, Belmont at 7 p.m. at Northeast Mississippi Community College’s Bonner Arnold Coliseum. Ripley won a four-point decision over Belmont earlier this season. Before the Lady Tigers take the floor, the Ripley Tigers will play Alcorn Central at 5;30 p.m. for the No. 3 seed.
The Walnut Lady Wildcats play for third place in Div. 2-2A at 4 p.m. in Walnut. Thursday, the Lady Wildcats lost a semifinal game to Potts Camp, 62-30.
Next week’s North Half:
Teams and times have not been determined, but the Falkner Lady Eagles, Pine Grove Lady Panthers, Ripley Lady Tigers and Blue Mountain Cougars will host home playoff games to start North Half. The Walnut Lady Wildcats and Ripley Tigers will be on the road. Girls games are slated for Monday, Feb. 18, while boys will play Tuesday, Feb. 19.
